China: Worst Nightmare
I just looked at some pictures that were released from China and I am in tears right now. There are no words to describe it. I can't turn my head away and ignore the horror. Every day we send our children to school and pray they'll be safe, just as they do. We are no different from these people. It could happen to us. Losing a child is the worst thing in the entire world that could happen to someone.
The earthquake struck at 2:28 p.m. on Monday, and many parents rushed to the school. Xinjian had about 600 pupils, ages from roughly 7 to 12. When parents arrived most of the building had collapsed. They frantically pulled away bricks and chunks of concrete with their bare hands. NY Times article and pictures. But I warn you, it's absolutely horrible.
